about
Well, the press release puts it this way:
The album’s second single, “Miss Myself,” references everything from The Who’s "Can’t Explain" to poet William Carlos Williams’ “Spring and All” to Danielle Evans’ prizewinning short story collection, The Office of Historical Corrections.”
It’s definitely a love song, and maybe a narcissist’s self-conscious lament, as well as a meditation on what happens next. But first and foremost, it's a love song....
lyrics
I’ve got a lot on my mind, seems like we’re running out of time, I try but I can’t explain, I know it’s an old refrain
There’s what can and can’t be replaced, there’s that look passing across your face, there’s something you want me to say, before I have to go away
Well, I don’t know about you or anyone else (3x)
But when I die I’m gonna miss myself
We all know consciousness is a mystery, I think about you, you might not think about me, where we are isn’t where we’ll be, those are secrets of time and ontology
You can see I value your insight, I hope you’ll follow me into the light, will I feel the roots grip down and awaken, far too late for my faith to be shaken
Well, I don’t know about you or anyone else (3x)
But when I die I’m gonna miss myself
We really want it to work out
But it has already worked out
This is how it worked out
This is how it worked out
History could use some corrections, so many riots and insurrections, I’d like to see a better world, and I’d love to see it with you girl
But eternity’s an awfully long time, how many soulmates can you really find, think of all the memories you’d like to keep, before you sink down into your forever sleep
Well, I don’t know about you or anyone else (3x)
Buy when I die I’m gonna miss myself
