Exhausted 04:16
I remember all those years in Missouri When I needed someone so badly to show me How to get out of the state I was in I prayed to St. Louis to save me from sin Jumped in the Mississippi again and again Begged the current to carry me away Is there anywhere you’ve ever lived, you didn’t leave feeling exhausted (2x) La la la…. East coast, west coast, Europe, Japan Everywhere I went I was still the same man Ungrateful and dissatisfied Try to be truthful, try not to lie Try to see it all from the other side But eventually it’s always time to go Is there anywhere… A woman here, a woman there Good companions make it easier to bear Whispering their wisdom while we drive along Out the windows, out of our minds Why can’t we leave it all behind Our sticking point is always we land Is there anywhere….

Miss Myself 03:46
I’ve got a lot on my mind, seems like we’re running out of time, I try but I can’t explain, I know it’s an old refrain There’s what can and can’t be replaced, there’s that look passing across your face, there’s something you want me to say, before I have to go away Well, I don’t know about you or anyone else (3x) But when I die I’m gonna miss myself We all know consciousness is a mystery, I think about you, you might not think about me, where we are isn’t where we’ll be, those are secrets of time and ontology You can see I value your insight, I hope you’ll follow me into the light, will I feel the roots grip down and awaken, far too late for my faith to be shaken Well, I don’t know about you or anyone else (3x) But when I die I’m gonna miss myself We really want it to work out But it has already worked out This is how it worked out This is how it worked out History could use some corrections, so many riots and insurrections, I’d like to see a better world, and I’d love to see it with you girl But eternity’s an awfully long time, how many soulmates can you really find, think of all the memories you’d like to keep, before you sink down into your forever sleep Well, I don’t know about you or anyone else (3x) Buy when I die I’m gonna miss myself

Hey Romeo 05:26
I think the problem is all the broken promises and still apocalypse it don’t come Then there’s analysis, we’re seeking synthesis, a little catharsis would be fun Up on the balcony, you’re waving down to me, you’re saying, Hey Romeo, what have we done? I think we better run Well my family they just won’t agree that your love for me is so pure They’re lousy company filled with insecurity and I can’t guarantee they will endure From where I stand, I’ll be the better man, and I say, Hey Juliet, what have we done? I think we better run Run, run, run, we gotta run Yeah, yeah, our time has come Run, run, run, we gotta run Like our lives have just begun This new universe might not be the worst, could be we’re not cursed here at all Fate can be reversed, we’ll talk it over first, no late messengers to call Up on the balcony, you’re climbing down to me, you’re saying, Hey Romeo, what have we done? I think we better run Now we can live our lives, raise our kids with pride and inside they won’t harbor hate Your Capulets can be our guests as long as they let it rest at our front gate Then I’m on the balcony, they’re waving up to me, they’re saying, Hey Romeo, what have you done? We love you like a son. Run, run, run….

Holiday lights going up in the park, got the inmates hanging them long after dark I was just walking by, my dog and I, kept my head down, looked no one in the eye On the side of the van, read it if you can, says we’re saving taxes by using these men Is this something to celebrate? Anything here we’d recreate? All I know is it’s getting late If we didn’t walk by and talked to those guys what would they say went wrong? What of the guards, their shifts in the prison yards, how does the job warp their whole lives? Dog pulls me along, and after they’re gone, holiday lights shine until dawn. Is this something to celebrate? Anything here we’d recreate? All I know is it’s getting late We climb into bed, but what if instead we went to sleep in one of those cells? What would we dream, and what would it mean, to see us all punished for every sin? When we talk of the saved, how to free the enslaved, no money’s changing hands No money's changing hands (repeat) Holiday lights going up in the park, got the inmates hanging them long after dark

Trespassers 05:35
Private property, a stranger outside Keeps on coming, he ain’t gonna hide This land is your land, it’s his land too What happened to him it could happen to you Says I’m not trespassing, I just got lost Wandering so long, sense of direction is off You can put down that shotgun, don’t be alarmed He’ll soon be on his way, no one should get harmed Words he said well they used to be fine Spoke without thinking said what was on his mind But meanings change while you get old Lose your job head out on the road Says I’m not trespassing, I just got lost Living so long, a brain can grow soft Please stop your tweeting, don’t be alarmed He’ll soon be on his way, no one should get harmed Yes he should keep his hands to himself But he kept on reaching out for someone else He says he didn’t mean to offend But that’s a sure way to get to an end Says I wasn’t trespassing, I just got lost Lusting so long, loved being the boss You can keep testifying, don’t be alarmed He’ll soon be locked away, no one should get harmed What about you and your every day Are all your decisions completely okay Complicity’s devilish, true angels are rare How many of us just pretend that we care Say we’re not trespassing, we just got lost Who’s got time for second thoughts So much is broken, don’t be alarmed We’ll all be on our way, no one should get harmed Are you a trespasser? Just trying to get across Maybe we’re all trespassers And we are lost, lost, lost

Dark Times 05:11
Bleak…. We go like sheep… So goddamn meek… And then we’re gone Need… The desire for speed…. All of that greed…. And then it’s gone In these dark times, get lit up inside Try to be a man who comes through In these dark days, you’ll be amazed By all the things you can do Fake… We got to wake… Feel that ache… And then it’s gone Win… Where have you been… Call it a sin… And let it go In these dark times…. Might need a better flow chart, see how it all blows apart We should have started this long ago What’s on your agenda, can you change the end or Do you intend just to watch the show? Talk…. We should just walk… Outlines in chalk… Of all we know Move… A way to soothe… Find a new groove… Then spin along In these dark times… Ba ba ba ba….

Little Space 06:38
How little space can you take up in your own head Lately you fill too much of my mind Concentrate and expand, just something you said A spirit you hoped to refine How low to the ground while you wander the earth You crawled not long after you were born You’ll be given your death like you were given your birth We all leave here unadorned I used to stand up so much straighter My spine stretching out to the sky I could reach whatever I wanted I thought I never be denied My father carried me upon his shoulders Until I drove him to his knees Tell your kids that they have to thank you Do nothing until they say please I used to stand up… Out on the town in search of oblivion She’s hiding there somewhere you can tell Drink from the bottle that makes you smaller It was never gonna end all that well I used to stand up… (2x)

Asylum 06:19
We come here with the clothes on our backs Our children have less, don’t know what they lack Guards take our shoelaces and turn us away They put our papers in plastic bags Make us cross the bridge away from your flag That star-spangled banner ain’t waving too proud today Kidnappers on the bridge in their shiny new trucks Know how to take advantage of us They hold us for ransom not one of us can pay But somewhere a bird sings, its feathers shine A palm tree waits at the edge of my mind Are we mere beings or no beings at all I watch them haul off a father and son What can I do, once again I run Close my eyes tight, it’s happening everyday What does security even mean So much outrage filling every screen How many people must die before you feel at ease? Walls go up, walls come down A nursery rhyme, sung by a clown Do you really think you can lock out all that you fear? But somewhere a bird sings, its feathers shine A palm tree waits at the edge of my mind Are we mere beings or no beings at all Asylum, is it too much to ask A helping hand to carry us past A time when the world seems so lost You might not understand what it’s gonna cost Asylum, we don’t mean to beg And it hasn’t always been this way And it hasn’t always been this way It gives me no comfort, it gives me no joy You can share this news with your own little boy Your precious borders, they’re bound to be swept away There are camps for us, they’ll be camps for you We’ll all have to answer for the things we do When you’re running you’ll learn it’s awfully hard to pray There are those seeking and those who find Rest assured it reverses in time And those shoelaces you steal might just bind you up someday And you’ll hear a bird sing, its feathers shine A palm tree waits at the edge of my mind Are we mere beings, or no beings at all A bird sings, its feathers shine A palm tree waits at the edge of my mind Are we mere beings, on no beings at all

Keep It Shut 06:12
So much to say, but no one wants to hear it I shout at the cars, but the drivers don’t fear it The people in the park, they want me to be clear Been here forever, I was a pioneer I thought for sure that I would be anointed As went on I grew gradually disappointed At first my complaints they were loud and disjointed Then I realized it didn’t much matter what this boy did And I, I was out of luck And I, I learned a lesson and it was rough And I, I knew enough, more than enough To keep my mouth shut I kept it shut…. We’ve all got friends who get under our skin Search for an ending, a new way to begin I listen to their stories, they want me to weigh in But I know better now, won’t make the same mistake again And I… Hold your position, want to make a stand It can feel good sometimes to ignore all their demands It’s already decided, can’t change your plan Why stop behaving like an old white man And I… Talk of opinions and you’ve been around Rightside up and upside down When you’re the king, you get to wear the crown When you’re dethroned, you’re crawling on the burning ground
10.
I got my reasons You know what they are They might not make sense But they got me this far I’d sure like to help Would it matter to you You must be tired Of how I don’t come through Like a permanent migraine, puts a stop to it all Permanent migraine, makes sure you fall Turn up the pressure Demand a response Run hot and cold Am I your king or your pawn Right behind your eye Pit of your stomach Start to sweat You’re gonna be sick Like a permanent migraine… Is this enlightenment, a higher realm Is this enlightenment, or some fresh hell I once was charming Sent visions your way The pain that followed Lasted less than a day Now I won’t leave I’ve set up camp Bury your head No mirror, no lamp Like a permanent migraine…

Us People 05:07
Spring is here again, don’t tell the snow on the ground All the people in their heavy coats, they want to get out of town But don’t worry, the sun shines, the planet’s gonna be just fine It’s us people, we ain’t got much time A friend got sick the other day, infection would not go away Strongest drugs not strong enough, say goodbye to all you love But don’t worry, the sun shines, the planet’s gonna be just fine It’s us people, we ain’t got much time Remember all the power we had, drove so many people mad The gasoline, the fossil fuels We used up every drop, we poisoned all the crops How could we be such fools? No point in looking back, our kids they’ll never adapt Of course, of course, they call us cruel When you’re living underground, the silence grows profound End days have finally come, there’s nowhere left to run But don’t worry, the sun shines, the planet’s gonna be just fine It’s us people, we ain’t got much time So next time you’re blessed with excess, try to be a little more generous To all those waiting in line, for the world we’ll leave behind But don’t worry, the sun shines, the planet’s gonna be just fine It’s us people, we ain’t got much time, time, time It’s us people, we ain’t got much time, no, no It’s us people, we ain’t got much time
